Since beginning practice in 1980,
Dr. Murphree's love of dentistry has been fed through learning.
Dr.
Murphree's ongoing postdoctoral education has deepened his understanding
of the human dentition as a complete system, rather than independently
functioning units. His training with dental text author, Pete Dawson,
DDS at Dawson's Centers for Advanced Dental Study in Clearwater, Florida
focused on the interconnected relationships of the ‘Bite' (TMJ or jaw
joint), tooth wear patterns and their roles in day-to-day comfort,
long term function and overall health. *Successful completion of this course required approximately 120
hours of education.
Postdoctoral Education
Cosmetic Dentistry is the art and science of appearance
related dentistry.
To explore this area of dentistry, Dr. Murphree joined The
American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) in
1987. Since then, he has consistently expanded his appreciation and
knowledge of cosmetic dentistry through
participation in the AACD Annual Scientific Sessions—held throughout
North America from Hawaii to Vancouver to nearby Nashville Tennessee.
(See Postdoctoral Education) In May of 2003, his peers in the AACD
awarded him Alabama's first medal in their National Smile Gallery Competition.
In April of 2004, Dr. Murphree successfully completed the AACD's written board
examination in cosmetic dentistry and is now designated a Sustaining Member.
In 2005, Dr. Murphree was again recognized by the AACD with four additional
medals in the National Smile Gallery Competition. He continued his success in 2006 with
four more medals. The AACD includes approximately
7,600 members from over 56 countries, see www.aacd.com.
Restorative Dentistry is the science
of restoring the dentition to optimal health.
Knowing that form and function are inseparable, Dr. Murphree is committed to
being a student of this fundamental aspect of patient care.
Whether the need is for repair
of damaged teeth, elimination of decay, replacement of missing teeth
or any other restorative challenge, Dr. Murphree takes genuine satisfaction
in helping his patients. He has served since 1988 as a researcher and
tester for Clinical Research Associates in Provo, Utah-- a non-profit
organization dedicated to serving dentists by evaluating dental materials,
devices, and concepts for efficacy and clinical usefulness. www.cranews.com
