These features of the Murphree Center for Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry are just a few examples of the services and techniques we provide for our patients.
Magnification
Dr. Murphree and Dr. Drake use magnification lenses to help improve health assessment and
esthetic enhancement. Using magnifying loupes to enhance his vision allows
him to more thoroughly detect imperfections and flaws that can harbor disease.
In combination with efficient overhead lights, subtle nuances of your smile
can be revealed to him more clearly.
Photographic Documentation
Our use of high resolution (6.1megapixel) digital cameras outfitted with close-up
lenses and flashes allow us to capture images illustrating potentially problematic
flaws. We also document images for our patient's insurance benefit purposes.
Subtle nuances in natural tooth formation and coloration can be recorded, then
emailed directly to our ceramic artisans. They can then use this photographic
documentation to assist them in color matching your porcelain restorations
to the existing natural tooth color.
Air Abrasion Dentistry
Air abrasion or micro-dentistry is accomplished by use of a unit designed to
produce a microscopic "sand-blasting" effect which can "blow" away small areas
of surface decay.
This instrument
produces significantly less noise and heat than conventional dental handpieces,
and rarely requires local anesthesia. The tooth can then be filled with a tooth
colored composite resin restoration. Although this approach is not appropriate
for all fillings, it is a conservative technique that can be used in certain
applications.
