Smile Design Techniques

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers have provided our patients with solutions to crooked, chipped, worn, gapped, and stained smiles. Aesthetically crafted porcelain veneers can solve multiple problems simultaneously. In some cases veneers can even be used instead of braces to achieve a straighter less crowded appearance in as little as two to three well planned visits. Temporary restorations are worn while ceramic artists custom craft your final porcelain restorations. As with any type of dental restoration, proper daily home care and periodic professional care is required. Porcelain veneers also offer the advantage of being relatively resistant to staining.

Esthetic Smile Design

People with crowded, crooked, short, gapped or darkly stained teeth may be candidates for this type of treatment. Those with congenital defects—teeth that are underdeveloped or improperly formed at birth—have also benefited from this type of smile makeover. Many patients have come to us to transform smiles that are darkly stained due to tetracycline antibiotic given to them during their childhood. A redesigned smile may involve only one or two teeth or it may include multiple teeth or even the entire dentition.

Esthetic Bonding
Composite resin material is directly bonded, layer by layer to your natural tooth surface, then polished. These resin materials are available in multiple shades offering the potential to closely match your natural tooth color.

Professional Smile Whitening
In recent years the cultural standard for whiteness has become lighter and lighter. For patients who are good candidates, dentist-supervised whitening can enhance natural tooth color. We will create custom whitening trays from models of your teeth. These precisely fitted trays are designed to maintain the whitening gels in place over your teeth while keeping it away from your gums. A variety of formulas allows us to tailor your whitening schedule to your lifestyle and comfort.

Gumline Reshaping
The role of your gums in Smile Design is to act as a “frame” for your new smile. Gumline reshaping can give length to teeth that are too short due to excessive gum tissue levels. Working with Dr. Paul R. Weeks of Huntsville, an esthetic plan is prescribed which can result in a less 'gummy' more balanced appearance for many patients' smiles and faces.

Dental Implants
Working in cooperation with Periodontal Specialists, a new tooth root replacement can be surgically implanted into the jaw and allowed to heal. Dr. Murphree then builds an implant restoration (crown) on this base. This solution to missing teeth provides a restoration that is close in many ways to your original teeth. Individual implants can be flossed like natural teeth and of course remain fixed in place.
